The building has been renovated to meet 21st century environmental responsibilities, making the FEI, a world-governing body for equestrian sport; a truly green pioneer. Local business man invited to interview Damian Collins, MP for Folkestone and Hythe.
Aaron Dewhurst, Managing Director of The Glass Wipe Board Company based in Hythe, was recently invited to interview Damian Collins on local business matters; since his election in May 2010 as the MP for Folkestone and Hythe, Damian has been working to support local people, causes and enterprise.
He initiated the interview to show his continued support to local businesses, and was delighted to receive a Conservatives branded Glass Wipe Board.
One interesting area of conversation was the daylight saving debate, and how it may benefit the local community. During the early 20th century daylight saving time was introduced, which means many countries have been adjusting the clock one hour ahead in spring and winding it back by one hour during autumn. Over the years the public and politicians have debated whether we should be winding our clocks back in the autumn. Damian supports the argument of daylight saving and believes that local and countywide businesses could benefit from having more daylight hours in the afternoon.
Damian says: ìBusinesses within retail and leisure could open later and have more daylight trading time. Commuters would have the opportunity to travel home in the light. It would also reduce companiesí energy costs and increase business activity, therefore daylight saving would benefit not only local businesses but countrywide businesses too.
The Daylight Saving Bill 2010/11, a private membersí bill, has been introduced to Parliament. If passed, the Government will conduct further analysis, tests and reports. David Cameron would want the country on the whole to support the bill.î
